    January 2015 News

January 2015 #13 Happy New Year. How interesting and challenging was 2014 ?? TAC/VicRoads established Baw Baw L2P in January 2009 with the first group of 15 Learners starting in September 2009. They are now well and truly off their green Ps. We attempt to make regular contact and follow up these former participants. Online Booking Calendar Going Ahead in 2015!

With positive feedback from Mentors at a recent General Meeting, the L2P Steering Committee has ratified a proposed online booking Calendar. Based on the popular Google Calendars, the online Calendar will be given a three month probation period from February 2015 to May 2015. Starting on June 1st 2015 all Mentors will be working online to book their students for lessons. This will also be made easier as the Calendar can be accessed from Androids, I-phones and Tablets. For such a diverse area as Baw Baw Shire, this will save many Mentors (and Beth) from the need to make a hasty trip down to the Police Station to find a…

Baw Baw L2P Wins Grants of Over $13,000

Alberto’s Pizzas supplied us with 8 beaut pizzas, at very short notice. A number of Mentors put up their hands to be involved in a fundraising sub committee.  Yesterday the letter…

The Importance of Maintaining Your Logbook

I recently took a learner for their licence test. It had taken 3 weeks to book. Plenty of time to get ready. The learner had already completed sixty hours, privately driving with a licenced friend. I had explained to carefully fill out the logbook. Make sure all hours were correctly written up and the hours carefully totalled up. All certified drivers should complete the front of the book, each page should be filled in by the learner at the top of the page. This was a legal document and would be checked. “Make sure you are very careful.” At the Vicroads desk each page was carefully examined. Unfortunately for my…

Robert was introduced to Baw Baw L2P at a U3A presentation and has been involved with Baw Baw L2P since training in October 2009. He has been a patient and calm supervisor, guiding 6 Learner drivers towards gaining their P’s. Robert has stepped in when other Mentors were not available, come to our skills training and information sessions and left his hat behind after 2 of the annual Mentor dinners.
